Memorial Services for Donald Paul Johnston, age 77 will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 with Rev. Greg Heidorn of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Donald died at the Stewartville Care Center where he had been a resident. His body was donated to the Department of Anatomy at the Mayo Clinic for research. Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church.
Donald was born September 29, 1931 in the Chicago area. He lived in the Owatonna and Blooming Prairie areas as a child. On November 22, 1950 he married Patricia Gilbertson and they made Rochester, Fountain and Stewartville their home. Patricia died November 5, 2004. Donald was employed at the Rochester State Hospital, Olmsted Community Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and Continental Baking. He enjoyed camping and Sunday drives.
Donald is survived by a daughter Christine O'Brien (Thomas) of Dodge Center, Three sons, Douglas Johnston (Diane), Kenny Johnston and Eric Johnston (Mary), all of Rochester. 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren, A Twin Sister Doris Schlidt of Laguna Woods, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, a Grand-daughter and 5 brothers.
