Gilbert LaRocque, Sr. 89 resident of Bay City for 80 years, former undersheriff and retired circuit court officer of 16 years after service, died this morning at 1:30 o'clock at Samaritan hospital after a one-year illness. He resided at 108 Dailey Street and was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth. He was born Oct 30, 1869 in Ogdensburg, N.Y. He was an honorary 35-year member of BPO Elks lodge #88 and was a member of St. Joseph's Holy Name society and of St. Joseph's Ushers club. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. L.G. (Helen) Weston of Caro, Mrs. Roy Crete, Sr (Julia). of Bay City, Mrs. Leslie Blakely (Amelia) of Flint, and Miss Eva LaRocque, at home. Six sons Gilbert, Jr. and Leo both of Bay City, Emery of Anaheim, Calif. Edward of Flint Harry of Gaines, Mich and Clarence of Davison, MI 31 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. The body is at the W.Q. Trahan Funeral chapel. Funeral services will held Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the funeral chapel and a 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. The very Rev. Fr. Francis Trotter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
