Mr. Rode came to Newport in 1906 from Wisconsin and a short time later moved to western Oregon where he had a homestead. He sold out in 1932 and came back here to make his home. He lived with the Fox family here until Mrs. Fox’s death in 1952, then he lived alone. He entered the Newport rest home three months ago.
A bachelor, Mr. Rode leaves several nieces and nephews including Mike and Ben Fox of Newport, Mrs. Shirley Tarbet of Kendrick, Idaho, Margaret Evans, Northport, Washington; Florian Rode, Lewiston, Idaho, Agnes Runnberg and Bessie Domstick, Milwaukee, and Blanche, Pawloski, Chicago.
