Lydia E. George, 72, of 927 Cooper St., Vandergrift, died yesterday (May 20, 1981) in Citizens General Hospital.

She was born July 21, 1909, in Kiski Township, a daughter of George C. and Anna Hazlett Akins, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. George was a member of First United Methodist Church, Vandergrift.

Survivors include her husband, Earl H. George, two daughters, Mrs. Lavern (Betty) Summerville of Forest Hills and Mrs. Rowland (Geraldine) Moore of Grove City; 12 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; two brothers, Veryl of Hershey and Arthur Akins of Allegheny Township; and four sisters, Retha Cohlhepp of McKeesport; Mrs. Edwin (Florence) Long of Leechburg, Mrs Raymond (Dorothy) Shope of Apollo and Mrs. Robert (Ella Jean) Domiano of Vandergrift.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby A., in 1975.
