Elura Stalter was the daughter of John Stalter and Jane Bryant. She was born in Franklin County, Kansas, during the years that the Stalter family was resettling from Ohio to Kansas. It was at this time that her father, John, worked the ranch in Franklin County that belonged the noted abolitionist, John Brown.
On June 27, 1879, she married John K. Snyder, a native of Ohio, in Cowley County, Kansas. Elura and John had eight children. In May 1915, she married James Robert Boyes in Oklahoma.
Her parents were buried in El Carmelo Cemetery, Pacific Grove, Monterey County, California.
