Julius Edward Gaskins, of Huger, a retired maintenance mechanic at Detyens Shipyard for 35 years, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of March 30, 2009.

Mr. Gaskins was a son of Julius James Gaskins and Lucy Alma Gaskins Gaskins.

He was a Navy veteran and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are his wife, Lena Morris Gaskins; six daughters, Debra Stone and Cindy Gaskins, both of Moncks Corner, Doris Wells and Susan Driggers, both of Cordesville, Terry Holley of Bonneau, and Donna Sherman of Huger; two sisters, Bernice Mitchum and Letha Gaskins, both of Bamberg, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Interment was in Eccles United Methodist Church Cemetery, Huger.
