Her adult life was spent in Evansville and Newburg, IN, and Bowling Green and Crestwood, KY. Cindy received a degree in interior design from Western Kentucky University in 1993 and was active in Downtown LaGrange Businesses. She was the previous owner of Treasured Interiors by Cindy and manager of The Emporium on Historic Main Street in LaGrange. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2007, Cindy became involved in helping fellow survivors and families cope with this disease through Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky (O.A.K.). She was the initiator of the Blue Hydrangea Progressive Tea Party on Main Street. Passionate about helping other survivors, this fund- raising tea party was a priority to her even in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her father, James H. Smith. Survivors include her husband, Gary; her children, Chad (Lisa), Jonathan, and Samuel Adams (Jaime); her mother, Dorothy Smith; a sister, Peggy Boykin; and three grandchildren, Addison, Connor and Gaea Adams.
A celebration in the life of Cindy will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, from the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville with burial in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, and 9 a.m. until time of service Friday. The family requests expressions of sympathy to be sent to the Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky (O.A.K.).
