"DIED. – Near New Lancaster, Miami-co., Kansas, Jan. 28, 1881, Dr. L. C. Conrey, aged 70 years, 6 months and 21 days.
He was born in Kentucky, and his parents moved to Illinois in an early day. He came to Iowa when it was a Territory, and lived there until spring of 1857, when he moved to Osawatomie, in this County. His life work was to do good, and it was truthfully said that he had worn himself out in trying to do good to others. He had belonged to the Baptist Church for about forty years.
He left a wife, six children and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. His funeral was preached by Elder Lowther, of the Baptist Church at Fontana. We laid him to rest by the side of his former wife, in the cemetery at Fontana, there to await the sounding of the last trump. Although we mourn his loss, yet we sorrow not as those who have no hope, for he left a bright assurance that all is well. – His Children."
