James Rabern Adkins, 87, retired dairyman and farmer of Lynnville, died Sunday, October 31, 1971, in Lewisburg. His widow is Mrs. Eula Booth Adkins.

Services were conducted Tuesday, November 2, at Lynnville Methodist Church with burial in Lynnwood Cemetery. Rev. J. J. Mabry and Rev. J. Dallas Bass officiated.

A native of Leggtown, Alabama, he was the son of the late James Cargal Adkins and Emma Coffman Adkins. He was a long time member of the Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. James C. Erwin, Mrs. John H. Kastanakis, Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Martha Carnathian, Mrs. Kendrick B. Ford, Memphis, Mrs. Dorris C. Goodman, San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Col. Ret. James C. Adkins, Colorado Springs, Col., Roy B. Adkins, Lake City, Fla.; one sister, Miss Eula Adkins, Athens, Ala.; one brother, Eugene Adkins, Veto, Ala.; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
