Fred C. Briggs
Of 726 W. 13th St., Tyrone, died at 2:10 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 28, 1973, at Tyrone Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Briggs had been employed at Westvaco, retiring in 1963. He was born Aug. 4, 1898, at Tyrone, a son of Lloyd and Martha Ella (Cupp) Briggs, and on Oct. 25, 1920, at Hollidaysburg married Margaret M. Hildabrand. Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Veryl Ayers of Kenmore, N.Y., Mrs. Janet Shildt of Willingboro, N.J., Mrs. Joyce Leamer of Tyrone, and Mrs. Patricia Maitland of North Towanda, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 10 half-brothers and half-sisters, Mrs. Chester Weierick, Mrs. George Miller, Mrs. Gerald Bennett, John and Richard Bean of Tyrone; Ralph and Paul Bean of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mrs. Joseph Miller of Huntingdon, Robert Bean of Sinking Valley and Daniel Bean of Warriors Mark. Mr. Briggs was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Tyrone, and the Men's Bible Class. He was also a member of the Scoo-Tac Hunting Camp. Friends will be received in the Johnson Funeral Home, Tyrone, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Services for Fred C. Briggs of 726 W. 13th Street, Tyrone, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, in the Johnson Funeral Home, Tyrone, by the Rev. Norman Marden. Interment in Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. ETA Memorial Park, Bellwood. Friends will be received in the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
