Ielda Lenore Smith
Word has been received of the death in Modesto, Cal., Nov. 21, of Mrs. Ielda Lenore SMITH, 85, Modesto, following a brief illness.
Born Aug. 18, 1888 in Maxinkuckee, Ind., she was the daughter of Dr. Isaac L. and Laura E. SPANGLER BABCOCK. Her first marriage was Aug. 18, 1907 in Rochester to H. D. THORNBURG; her second marriage was May 3,1925 in St. Joseph, Mich., to Howard P. CALLAWAY; her third marriage was Aug. 7, 1958 in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Milo B. SMITH. All three preceded in death. She was a member of the First Baptist church, the WABA and the Mothers of World War II, all of Rochester.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Kathryn THORNBURG, Modesto; three grandchildren, Leland THORNBURG, Olympia, Wash.; Harvey THORNBURG, Greeley, Colo., and Mrs. Lora Jane RUTH, Yreka, Cal.; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. H. B. THORNBURG, Seattle, Wash.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Homer (Grace) REESTER, Brookings, Ore., and Mrs. Lewis (Bernice) YOST, Craig, Colo., and two step-sons, Robert CALLAWAY, Mishawaka, ad Victor SMITH, Grand Junction, Colo. A son, Harold B. THORNBURG, three sisters, and four brothers preceded in death.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Donald MAUGHAN at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.
