Sarah was the daughter of Richard and Mary (Wood) Platt and was baptized 11 September 1636 at Ware, Hertfordshire, England. She came to New England with her parents in 1638. Sarah married 1st Thomas Beach 25 September 1652 at Milford, CT. She married 2nd Miles Merwin (his 2nd wife)about 1664 at Milford,CT.

The known children of Miles and Sarah were twins Martha (Mrs James Prince) and Maria (Mrs John Hull); Hannah (Mrs Abel Holbrook); twins Deborah (Mrs Samuel Burwell)and Daniel Merwin. Sarah died from complications of childbirth (Deborah and Daniel born 24 April 1670) and was buried in Rev Peter Prudden's Garden now part of the old section of Milford cemetery but no headstone exists.
