Mary Ellen Smith was born in Shelbyville Ill on Jan 14 1854, and died at her home in Phillips County Ks on May 25 1919, aged 65 yrs, 4 mo's and eleven days. She was united in marriage to Wm. A. Lowry on July 4, 1873, and to this union three children were born. Her husband and John William and Maud Melvina preceded her to the other life. Her remaining daughter, Mrs Annie Andres resides in Phillips Count Ks. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, an invalid Mother Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of this county, 4 sisters and 3 bros., who are: Mrs James Muir of Republican City, Mrs Geo. Wagoner of Beloit Ks, Mrs Alwida Garvin of Mintrose So. Dakota, Mrs Frank Kerr, of Crested Butte Co, Isaac Smith of Phillips Co Ks, Charles Smith of Keenan Ok, Samuel Smith of Kiowa Ks. She was a kind & loving mother, willing to do her share of life's burdens. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.
