Ada Marie Houghton, 62, of Harvey, Michigan, entered eternal life July 30, 2000, at Marquette General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She had been hospitalized for three weeks.
Born May 12, 1938 in Midland, a daughter of the late Albert Lee Northrup and Arvena (Rock) Northrup, Ada Northrup was raised in Midland until the age of 10 when her family moved to Rumely. She was a 1955 graduate of the Eben High School.
On September 20, 1974 she married Louis Fredrick Houghton and the couple moved to the Marquette area in 1979.
A homemaker, her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies and interests included baking, camping, and shopping.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Ada Houghton was survived by her husband of 25 years, Louis Houghton, 3 sons, Donald Lee (Lora) Houghton, Sr. of Harvey, Alfred John (Dawn) Atherton of Ishpeming and Steven Greg (Kay) Atherton of Marquette. Several grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother Robert Lee (Shirley) Northrup of Harvey. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ada Houghton was preceded in death by a sister Ila Mae Florey.
