Mary Jo Darden Rivers, 79, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Mary was born in Miller Grove, Texas, to the late Joe D. and Irene Burns. She had lived in Waco since 1954. Mary married Kenneth Paul Darden in 1945, and after the death of her first husband, she married Paul Rivers on Feb. 14, 2006. They lived at St. Francis Village in Crowley.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth, in August, 2005; son, Kenneth Lynn Darden in May, 2002; a brother, Vernon Burns, in 2005; and a grandson, Craig Martz, in 1991.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Rivers; children, Truett Darden, of Colorado, Mary Adamo and husband, Michael, of Arlington, Evelyn Walindzinski, of California, Jean Martz, and Pam Couch and husband, Kiney, both of Burleson; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, J.D. Burns and wife, Lorine and Bill Burns and wife, Rose; and many other family members and friends.
