Floyd, a veteran of WWI, was the son of Byrd & Ella (Rigdon) Langley. He married Bettie Daisy Caroline Self in St. Louis, MO on December 26, 1923.

Floyd suffered from bronchitis and asthma, which led to emphysema. He and Bettie were living at 2033a Alive Avenue in St. Louis when he became seriously ill on Nov. 27, 1944, and was admitted to the Veteran's Hospital in Jefferson Barracks. He died early the following morning at 2 a.m. The cause of death was from heart damage caused by bronchitis, chronic asthma, and emphysema. He had lived 48 years and 12 days.

His body was transported to Versailles where he was buried in Freedom Cemetery in Versailles.
