Ronald L. Boken, 72, of Rockford, died at 11:36 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005 in Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Born June 25, 1932, in Ogle County, the son of Andrew and Gaynell (Thomas) Boken.

Married the former Marian Johnson September 5, 1978, in Watertown, S.D.

Ronald served in the U.S. Army, 38th Infantry. Veteran of the Korean War.

Ron was employed as a truck driver for Spector Freight for 24 years and Terminal Freight for six. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Ron enjoyed playing shuffleboaard, woodcarving, watching the Cubs and tending his beautiful flower garden. He liked taking gambling trips with his wife, Marian.

Survivors include his wife Marion; sons, Glen (Rebecca) Davis of Beliot, Wis., and John Boken of Rockton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Dick (Gloria)Boken of Brooklyn Center, Minn., sisters, Arlene Woodward of Seattle, Wash., Marion Harris of Rockford and shirley (Don) Gugliuzza of Machesney Park; sisters-in-law, Shelby Boken of Dixon, Margaret Boken of Canada and Carol Boken of Machesney Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russell, Eugene, Wayne and Frances "Fritz"; and sisters, Dorothy Johne and Rheta Jenkins.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, in Sunset Funeral Homne, 8800 N. Alpine Road, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald C. Meyer officiating.
