Grover L. Brooks, PhD., 53, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Dayton, OH. passed away Saturday at Franciscan Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a graduate of Roth High School. He was the recipient of a track scholarship from Kent State University where he received a BS degree. Grover earned an MS from University of Illinois, Masters of Library Science from Wright State University, where he also taught Language Arts, received Professorship in Library Science from California State University, where he was employed until his retirement. He was an accomplished tennis player and avid sportsman.
Preceded in death by his father, Grover Lester Brooks; grandmother, Martha J. Dudley; stepfather, John H. Mathews, Sr. He is the beloved son of Jessie L. Mathews; beloved brother of Janie (Bradley) Baskin, Billy (Theresa) Brooks, Kenneth "Micky" Brooks all of Dayton, Linda (Louis) Webb of L.A., CA; step-brothers & sisters, Lucille Herring, Mildred (Isaac) Crawford, Rev. Jesse, (Lois), Bishop John H.
