Funeral Service: 1:30 P.M. Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin, Nebraska

Wayne E. Henry, 73 years of age, of Daykin, NE. passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday evening, July 13, 2002. He was born on December 19, 1928 at Daykin, NE. and lived on the family farm his entire life and retired from farming in 2002. He was a 1946 graduate of Daykin High School. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army from March 22, 1951 until March 11, 1953. He married Marilyn Siems on September 18, 1955 in Beatrice. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin, NE. and was on the church cemetery board. He was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the church council. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #198 in Daykin, NE. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities, playing cards and working in his shop.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn; daughter Marlys Koch and her husband Arlin on R. Wymore, NE.; grandchildren Timothy, Troy and Teri Ann Koch, all of R. Wymore; 2 brothers, Walter Henry and his wife Alta of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Wesley Henry and his wife Viola of Daykin; brother in law Donald Kilday of Palmer, NE.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lulu (Brinkman) Henry, sister Elinor Henry, and sister in law Elaine Kilday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, July 18, 2002 in the St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin, NE. with Reverend Paul Sorlien officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state from 9:00 - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Melvin and Elfrieda Kleine in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] and will be forwarded to the family.

Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice is in charge of services.
