Obituary:

Mr. Michael Stein, for many years a respected citizen of this city, died yesterday morning shortly before 1 o'clock at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. J. H. Purdy of No. 141 Bainbridge Street, in the seventieth year of his age.
Mr. Stein who had been suffering for more than a year from paralysis, was for a great many years actively engaged in the meat business in Manchester and was a leading and prominent citizen. More than twelve months ago he retired from business upon being stricken. Since then he has been a constant sufferer, and his death was not unexpected.
Mr. Stein was born in Hassen, Germany, and came to Manchester when a young man. He served throughout the Civil War as a member of the Caskie's Rangers, and was always an ardent Confederate.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Katherine Stein, he is survived by five children - Messers George, Charles, and Val Stein of this city, William Stein of Baltimore, and Mrs. J. H. Purdy of this city. Twenty-five grand children also survive him.
