FRANKS - Lillian L. (Miller), was born July 13, 1911, 7 miles east of Sallisaw in a community called Miller Ridge, so named because of the abundance of Millers who settled there prior to statehood. Lillian was the oldest daughter of 10 children born to Charles Ben Miller and Mary Clay Riley Miller. Lillian succeeded in getting out of the cotton patch when she married Orphus York Franks in 1928. When Orphus found work at American Airlines, the couple moved to Tulsa and settled in the Springdale community. By that time in 1949, Lillian had borne 8 children. She joined Springdale Baptist Church and saw to it that her children and grandchildren received their Biblical lessons. More importantly, Lillian modeled the Christian faith, passing on a heritage that placed love of God above all else and that taught respect for others no matter the differences. She was a storyteller par excellence, imparting wisdom and wit to her listeners. Many meals were enjoyed at her table with always enough food to serve an unexpected guest. Her specialty was Chicken 'n Dumplin's, a recipe and technique she taught her daughters and granddaughters as earnestly as she taught them their Bible verses. Lillian passed away on March 26, 2009. She is pre-deceased by: her husband and children, C.C. Franks, Donald Ray Franks, Douglas Franks and Ramona Sue Franks. She is survived by: her children, Patsy Lee West, Carl Bernard Franks, Marcy Ingram and husband Jim, Jonita Ratliff and husband Alan. Viewing and family visitation will be held at Moore's Rosewood Chapel from 4 - 6 p.m., Sunday. Service will be 10 a.m., Monday at First Baptist Church, Tulsa, followed by interment at 2 p.m., at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Springdale Baptist Church, 1511 N. Lewis Ave., Tulsa, OK 74110. Lillian L. (Miller) Franks
