Born August 21, 1916 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late James Wilson King and the late Hattie Kiser King.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Etta Phillips King, October 24, 1995, two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his Daughter-Vivian (King) Honeycutt and husband Bill of Greer, S.C.; Daughter-Janice (King) Elwood and husband Zeke of Concord, N.C.; Daughter-Jean K. (King) Sloop of Concord, N.C.; Son-Phil King and wife Pat of Norcross, Ga.; Nine grandchildren; Thirteen great-grandchildren; Five great-great grandchildren
King was employed by Propst Construction Company. He formerly worked at Cannon Mills, Plant # 6 and also Giles Moss Auctions. He was a member of Mt Hermon Lutheran Church. A graduate of Bethel High School, Bill was a very well known pitcher in Cabarrus County. He served in the Army during World War II.
The family will meet at the home.
Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home - Concord, PO Box 367, Concord, N.C., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2009. Funeral service will be at Mt Hermon Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2009 , Pastor Clarence Sifford officiating.
Interment will be at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord.
