Opal Albertson, 97 of Lakin, Kansas, died March 14, 2009 at Kearny County Hospital. She was a resident of High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin since January of 2003.

She was born August 15, 1911 to Ancel and Ada Book in Moline, Kansas. She grew up in Rush, Colorado where her parents farmed.

She married Charles Edgington in 1933. They had two sons, Ronald and Wilbur. She married Delbert Albertson in 1964, he died in 1966. They lived in Flagstaff, Arizona. And she later moved back to Colorado Springs before moving to Lakin, Kansas.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and three brothers. She was also preceded by a son Wilbur Edgington.

Her son, Ronald, survives with his wife Karen of Ulysses, Kansas. She is survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. with burial services following at Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Matt Miller of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating.
