MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Jeffery L. Barnett, 43, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Centennial Medical Center. He was a native of Okolona and had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 10 years. He was a detention officer with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department and a former employee of Murfreesboro City Schools. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

Services were Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Ray officiating. Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home of Murfreesboro was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Pam McClure Barnett; his mother, Birdie Crosby Franks, and his stepfather, Ora Franks, of Okolona; one daughter, Krystal Barnett of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two stepchildren, Casey and Julia McClure, both of Murfreesboro; three brothers, Roger Barnett, Steve Barnett and Ted Barnett; and four sisters, Carolyn Waters, Aileen Wells, Brenda Jones and Ann Grant.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Barnett, and a sister, Shelia Sweat.
