BETHEL, CONN. -- Eugene "Gene" H. Ormsbee Sr., 74, of Bethel, Conn., died peacefully at his home on Friday, March 28, 2008.
He was born in Ellenburg, N.Y., on Feb. 7, 1934, son of the late Carl A. and Blanche (Bombard) Ormsbee.
Mr. Ormsbee was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army. He worked for Charles Batchelders Co. in Newtown for 24 years. He retired from the maintenance department at Danbury Plastics Co. He was a member of the Lyon Mountain Methodist Church. He was an award winning Horseshoe player and was a member of the Danbury Horseshoe Association.
Mr. Ormsbee is survived by: his wife, Patricia Ann (Bruso) Ormsbee of Bethel, Conn.; two sons, Eugene H. Ormsbee Jr. and his wife Donna of Trumbull, Conn., Raymond C. Ormsbee and his wife Susan of Newtown, Conn.; two daughters, Diane Crowe and her husband Steve of Danbury, Conn., Linda L. Rizzo and her husband Michael of Bethel, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Florence Collins, Marion Kretschmann, Alice Chatelle and Sandra Newman; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Everett Ormsbee; and a sister, Linda Marx.
Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services and burial in Lyon Mountain Cemetery will take place in the spring.
Local arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home, 36 Church St. Chateaugay, N.Y.
ORMSBEE -- A graveside service for Eugene "Gene" H. Ormsbee, who died March 28, 2008, at his home in Bethel, Conn., will be held at the Lyon Mountain Cemetery on Saturday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Joy Shaffer of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
