James Roll age 82 years, 7 months, died Monday morning early after five days illness of double pneumonia at the home of Isaac Hall, where he has been cared for three years. Several years ago he was injured in a quarry which necessitated the amputation of a leg. He was twice married. Had three daughters by first marriage and daughter and two sons by second marriage. His first wife proceed him in death.The funeral services were held in M.E. Church Tuesday, conducted by Rev. E.L. Parents unknownJames married Sarah E Brownfield in August 16,1851 in Switzerland County Indiana and to this union were born Mary E Hall, Elize Grubbs and Nora Shipley James married Nancy C Hall in July 26,1891 in Bloomington, Indiana and to this union were born Sarah Jane Grubb, Rilin K Roll,George A Roll and Lizzie Agnes Roll which proceded him in death in 1901. He was a Civil War Vet. of the 23rd Infantry KY Company H he enlisted at Covington KY in 1861 a mustard out in Victoria,TX in 1865. At the time of his enlistment he says that he lived in Bromley,KY. When he got out of the war he says that he lived in Madison,IN and then Heltonville,IN. Burial is in Leesville Cemetery in Leesville,IN.
