Thomas Weston 'Wes' Aldrich

Thomas Weston "Wes" Aldrich Sr., 78, a loving father, actively involved with his children, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery.

The family will meet at 705 Palm, the home of Leslie and Roger Lewis.

Wes was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Gorman, Texas, to Roy and Hattie (Eison) Aldrich.

He graduated from Byng High School and attended East Central University in Ada, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

He met his wife, Lela Mae Shipley, at ECU and married her Jan. 31, 1947, in Ada. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1993.

He then married Ethel Lorene Songer on April 20, 1996.

Mr. Aldrich served in the United States Army during World War II on air offensives over Japan, the Western Pacific and Guam. He received an honorable discharge in April 1946.

In 1959, he moved to Duncan and worked for the General Adjustment Bureau in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he worked as an independent adjuster throughout the United States. In 1976, he began his own agency with the Farmers Insurance Group before retiring in 1998.

He was active, with his wives, in the Oklahoma and Texas Porcelain Artists.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; one son, Thomas Aldrich of Dallas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Rich Tompkins of Moscow, Russia, and Leslie and Roger Lewis of Duncan; and five grandchildren, James A. Tompkins, Clay R. Tompkins, Scott M. Lewis, Matthew S. Christian and Lauren E. Saltiel.

Bearers will be James Tompkins, Clay Tompkins, Scott Lewis, Matthew Christian, Bobby Randolf and Tom Montgomery.
