Mrs. Rhoda (Ross) Yates, 82, mother of Wagoner County Assessor, J. W. Yates, died Saturday night, September 20, 1941 at her home in the north part of Wagoner. She was born September 17, 1859 in Newton County, Arkansas, the daughter of John Wesley Ross and Rhoda Ann Standridge Ross.
Funeral services for Mrs. Yates were held at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery Monday afternoon with the Rev. J. E. McCoy, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial was under the direction of the Hersman Funeral Home.
Besides her son, J. W., Mrs. Yates is survived by one other son, Alex Yates of Bentonville, Arkansas and three daughters; Mrs. Viola Dean of Bass Arkansas, Mrs. Lawrence Foster of Witts Springs, Arkansas and Mrs. James C. Green of Mazie, Oklahoma; thirty-eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
