Ezekiel's parents were:

His parents bought land in Benton Co, MO, where his father farmed & operated a saw mill. They had large land holdings & slaves who were well cared for. During this time of prosperity, his parents were doing well and had a large smoke-house, well stocked with hams, etc. His father generously allowed his slaves to get what they needed from it.

Zeke's father enlisted in Company F, 6th Regiment, MO SM Cavalry, on July 25, 1863, as a private, serving on the side of the Union. His brothers, Virgil and Greenbury, also enlisted on the side of the Union. George served until the end of the war and was mustered out on July 18, 1865. By the end of the war they had lost most of their possessions.

Mary was pregnant with their last child, Robert, when the following Federal Census was taken. He was born on December 4, 1870.

On August 10, 1870,
Ezekiel, age 9, lived in Union, Benton Co, MO with his parents, George & Mary Williams, ages 28 & 29. Their post office was in Warsaw. They owned land & personal estate valued at $950 & $375.

Zeke's father died from Pneumonia on March 22, 1873. His mother was left with five children, ages 3 through 12. A handwritten note by Zeke shows they left MO in 1877 and moved to TX and later to OK.

Zeke's name was shown as E.Z. Williams on his death certificate. He & Ella were living in Hamlin, Jones Co, TX when he was admitted to Hamlin Memorial Hospital for Prostate Cancer. He died there at 3:30 p.m. on October 2, 1951. He had lived 90 years, 5 months, & 25 days. His son, P.H. Williams, was the informant on his death certificate. He was buried on October 5th.
