William Carol Cross was the husband of Dona Lucinda Woods and the son of John Wesley and Anne "Anny" Green Cross. He died ca. 1913 in St. Joseph, Tennessee.

William Carol Cross was a veteran of the American Civil War, serving in the CSA as a 1st. Sgt. in the 35th. Alabama Infantry. "He earned the nickname "Steady" because he could always be depended upon to be there when the going got the hardest and the battle raged at its fiercest."
