Also surviving are four sisters, Jean Wheeler, Colleen Butler, Pat (Dennis) Luhrsen and Linda (Mike) McCoy, one brother, Richard (Leona) Butler and fourteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Jack) and one sister (Helen).
Jim honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and in Germany.
Jim retired in 1995 after 35 years with the Champaign Unit 4 School System, building and grounds department. He especially took pride in seeing that the football, soccer and softball fields were always perfectly maintained.
He was a parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Jim loved his family and his job. He was proud to be a life member of AMVETS Post 3 and loved his AMVETS family.
He truly enjoyed working outside and doing yard work. Jim always greeted everyone with a smile.
