The 1900 census shows him living at Cardenas Barracks in Cuba. His rank was listed as Private. He was in Company E 10th US Infantry Regiment. His home address was 209 E. 20th Street, New York City. It also shows he was born 1873.


His WWI draft registration indicated he worked for General Electric Company in Los Angeles. He also lived in LA at 2100 Manuel Street.

The 1930 census shows him living in San Francisco with his wife and one son: Jacob J, age 53, born New York from German immigrants, he worked as a clerk in a school position; Eufrada, age 45, born in Texas from Texan parents, she was a chambermaid in a hotel; and son, Frank C, age 15, born in California.

There is a military pension index card for him. It lists: E10 US Infantry as his unit; Frida R. Drum as his widow; and November 10, 1931 as the date she filed for benefits.
