Arthur L Brown passed away comfortably Sunday, October 6, 1996. He was 77 years old.
Services will be 10 am Thursday, October 10, at Porter Funeral Home; burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 6-9 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
Family members stayed with him through the last weeks of his life.
Arthur and his wife, the late Elizabeth Brown, raised seven children. He was an avid motorcycle rider logging over 300,000 miles on his BMW. He and his sons were members of the KC BMW Motorcycle Club. His travels included forty-nine states, Mexico, Canada and Europe.
As a retired forty-four year employee of the Union Pacific Railroad, he remained active in the National Association of Railroad Veteran Employees and the Union Pacific Old Timers Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Turner.
Other interests included bowling, square dancing with the ''Plaza Singles'' Club, Turner Lions Club, camping and boating. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.
Although he will be greatly missed by all who knew him, they will remember his strength and concern for others.
Family members include four sons, Arthur Lee Brown Jr, Kansas City, Kansas, William J Brown, Lenexa, Kansas, John R Brown, Tonganoxie, Kansas, David Brown, Peculiar, Missouri; three daughters, Marilyn Viscek, Kansas City, Kansas, Annette Harris, Merriam, Kansas, Patricia Edmundson, Kansas City, Kansas; stepmother, Cora Brown, Kansas City, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
