SVEN WILLIAM PALM. In 1848, a group of 25 immigrants arrived from Småland to S.M. Swenson?s plantation in Fort Bend County, Texas. Among them were Sven William Palm, a five-year old little boy, and his parents, the Anders Palms, and the brothers:
Johannes, Carl, Andres, August, and Henning. They came from Barkeryd parish in Småland, where Sven Wm. Palm was born in 1843. His father died because of the unhealthy climate in Fort Bend County, as early as the first year they were there. Mrs. Palm and the children, except for her son, August, later moved to Brushy, Texas, where they settled down as farmers. Sven William Palm married Mary Caldwell in 1870. She was the daughter of the well-known among Swedes T. J. Caldwell, who owned a large property near Georgetown and was born in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas, in 1849. Even though she is American, she is Swedish-minded. She can tell many stories about interesting things that happened during the pioneer days about its light and dark sides.
They have the following children: Henry, 1876, T. J., 1880, James, 1882, and Anna, 1872. Their sons are all married. Henry and James are farmers, and T. J., a civil engineer. Their daughter, Anna, is a music teacher. The Palm family belongs to the Central Presbyterian Church in Round Rock.
After the death of Caldwell, his father-in-law, William Palm bought the beautiful farm at Caldwell Heights where he has lived ever since.
Highly respected in the community, the old couple now lives in peace and quiet in the memorable place.
