He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sue Mann Channell in May of 2006 and his siblings, Daisy C. Jones, Gus Channell, Melvin Channell, Lennie Channell and Ernest Channell. Surviving family members are his son W. Dene Channell and wife Kathryn of Greensboro, GA; two grandsons, Leighton Channell and wife Amber and Logan Channell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro with the Rev. Dr. James A. Perkins, Rev. Dr. James Choomack, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Ford G'Segner officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Al Cason, Barry Credille, Mickey Channell, Jimmy Channell, Floyd Channell, Ethan Perkins, William Hurt, Jr. and Richard Hurt. Honorary pallbearers are the Elders and Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro. The family requests that any memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 26, 117 South Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 . The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
