Obituary
Sophia Hornbacher, youngest daughter of Christian and Kathrina Hornbacher was born June 20, 1886, in Clay County, Nebraska, and resided within Clay county her entire life.
She departed from this life at 7 o'clock in the morning on July 3, 1947, at the age of 61 years and 13 days, at the age of 61 years and 13 days, following an illness of several months, nine weeks of which was spent under the loving care of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Rauscher in Mrs. Rauscher's home and the remaining 15 weeks in the York county general hospital, under the constant care of her eldest daughter, Mrs. Waldo Warren.
At an early age she was united to the German Congregational church of Sutton and remained a member until transferring to the Hope Reformed church, also of Sutton, in which she retained faith until her passing.
On February 4, 1909, she was united in marriage to Emmanuel C. Becker and with her husband moved on to a farm northwest of Sutton, where she remained until death.
To this union four children were born, three daughters, one passing away in infancy, Mrs. Lu Ella Warren of Sutherland, Nebr., Mrs. Ceadia Rauscher of Aurora and one son, Harold E. Becker, Sutton.
Besides her husband and children she is survived by four brothers, Reinhold and Gustave Hornbacher, Sutton, Edward of Bayard, Neb., and Arthur Hornbacher of Goodland, Kansas, four sister, Mrs. Kate Gemar, Mrs. Lea Huber and Mrs. Martha Billigmeier, Oakes, N.D., and Mrs. Emma Peter of Goodland, Kas., six grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Becker unselfishly devoted her entire life to the rearing of her children and until her death the welfare of her loved one occupied her every thought.
Funeral services in both languages were held at the Hope Reformed church, U. Zogg officiating, following a short service in the chapel.
