He was born Oct 5, 1916, at Mellott, the son of Gilly and Myrtle Davis Conner. He married Myrtle Josephine Thomas, April 9, 1944, at Rockville. She survives.
He farmed south of Covington for 40 years and worked as a heavy equipment operator. His memberships include the Mellott United Churdh of Christ, and Union Local #841 of Terre Haute where he was a 50 plus year member.
He was a grauduate of Hillsboro High School.
Surviving, besides the wife, are: four sons, Jack (Vicki) Conner, Route 2, Covington: Paul Leon (Sally) Conner, Williamsport; John Curtis Conner, Covington; Alan J. (Cindy) Conner, Route 3, Covington; Five daughters, Marily E. (Chuck) Johnson, Montana; Loretta (Wayne) Niccum, Covington; Sharon (Richard) Roberts, Covington; Donna Jean (James) VanEtta, Covington and Alice Stonebraker, Covington; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at the Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, with the Rev. Gordon Nichols officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
Alvin was proceeded in death by his brother, Hershel Conner and parents.
