Mrs. Sarah Isle (nee Shankster), aged 94 years, 8 months, and 8 days died in this city, Monday, May 13, 1901, at the residence of her grandson.
Deceased was born September 5, 1806, in Lincolnshire, England; was married to Charles Isle in March, 1830, and came to Chariton county in July of the same year, where she has lived up to the time of her death. Her husband died in August, 1888, aged 84 years. She was the mother of nine children, four of whom survive her, three of whom reside in this county and one in Oklahoma.
Deceased was a member of the Methodist church, which she joined at an early age, and was always a faithful follower of the teachings. This kindly old lady will be greatly missed by all with whom she was acquainted. Heaven is the richer by her death. She was a devoted and faithful wife, a loving mother, and was greatly revered by her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Zion church, conducted by Rev. Richard Enyeart.
