Coming to Chambersburg, he established an egg business in Grant Street, which he conducted for 45 years. He retired from business in his 89th year.
Mr. Immell was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church and was senior elder of the First Lutheran Church.
On September 25, 1873, he married Ellen M. Glosser and to this marriage had three children: Ruth, Mary, and George Jr.
George was the 4th person to receive the Town Cane, which is given to Chambersburg's oldest living resident. He received it on his 92nd birthday.
Mr. Immell died on May 25, 1937. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
