Claire retired as a janitor with the Community Unit School District #300 in Dundee. Prior to that, he was employed by Simpson Electric in Elgin. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Bollinger Seyller of Mooresville, NC; a daughter, Mary Cahoon of Springfield; and a son, Terry Lee (Patt) Seyller of Mooresville, NC; he was a wonderful grandfather to six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Wilson) Pickett, John Dove, Christina Dove, Margaret Seyller, Henry Seyller, and Nicholas Cahoon; five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Amber, Aerial, Connor, and Matthew; one brother, Roy (Linda) Nelson Seyller of Elgin; two sisters, Dorothy Dalby of Marengo and Alice Scuffham of Sterling; and his stepmother, Doris Seyller of Cortland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Johnny; and three brothers, Ellsworth "Eldy" Seyller, Tom Seyller, and Ralph Seyller.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Monday, October 6, at the Burlington United Methodist Church, 195 W. Center St., Burlington. Burial will be held in the Burlington Twp. Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Mooresville First Baptist Church, 150 S. Church St., Mooresville, NC 28115.
