NEWPORT - Francis X. "Frank" Dorbert, 73, of Juniata Township, Newport, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 in the Harrisburg Hospital, and was a donor to Gift of Life.
He was born October 25, 1935 in Baltimore, a son of the late Francis X. and Mary Hazel (Rupley) Dorbert Way.
He retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a Navy Veteran, serving during he Korean War. He was a member of Newport VFW Post #34; Newport American Legion Post #177; and Millerstown Moose #925. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. After retiring he loved baking, cooking and playing Bingo.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Asper) Dorbert; children, Pamela J. Robb and husband Mitch of New Bloomfield, Frank K. Dorbert and special friend Theresa Espenshade of Newport, and Douglas A. Dorbert and wife Kathy of Newport; a brother, Harry S. Hamilton, Jr. of Duncannon; grandchildren, Samuel and Lucas Miller, Nora Robb, Rebecca, Jacob, Rachel, Cody, Derek and Angel Dorbert; and a great-grandson, Zadoc Atwood. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Stephens; a nephew, Tony Stephens; step siblings, Maynard and Earl Hamilton and Ruth Franklin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28th from the Newport First Church of God at 11 a.m., with Pastor William Baney officiating. There will be a visitation from 10-11 a.m., at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Wila Cemetery.
