Marie M. Wister, of Bethesda Care Center died Thursday after a lengthy illness. She was 89. She was born March 30, 1898, in Louisiana, Mo., to Francis M. & Christina D. Kenny Gibson, and grew up in Salida and Buena Vista. She married Harold R. Wister on April 4, 1922, in Buena Vista. Mr. Wister died in 1967. Mrs. Wister served as town clerk and treasurer in Minturn from 1969 until her retirement in 1975. She moved to Grand Junction in 1979. She enjoyed reading, bridge and traveling, and was a member of the Episcopal Church in Minturn. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. A sister and four brothers are deceased. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Richard W. Foster of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
