On Sunday, the 29th of May, Westport was again saddened to learn that Howard Titus had passed to the great beyond. Mr. Titus had been in ill health for quite a long while. Last winter he went to Boston, Mass., and underwent a serious operation in the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and returned home in March, but he never got about, and gradually weakened until he passed away. Mr. Titus was man of sterling character, a member of the Christian church and member of the I.O.O. F. Mr. Titus was 70 years of age. He was a great suffered but bore all his sufferings with Christian grace and fortitude. He was buried from the Christian Church on Tuesday afternoon. A large number attended the service. The Rev. Mr. Anderson conducted the ceremonies at the Church and the Oddfellows at the grave. He leaves his widow, and two daughters, Mrs. Floris of Winthrop, Mass., Mrs. McLearn of East Boston, and five sons Lorne, of Sydney and Edwin, Robert, Milledge and Douglas, at home, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and parent. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their great bereavement.
