J. Ralph Blackwelder, age 80, of Concord, N.C., died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his home.
He was born February 24, 1929 in Cabarrus County the son of the late Alfred Holmes Blackwelder and the late Annie (Pless) Blackwelder.
Mr. Blackwelder was employed by Terminal Trucking Co., Concord and was a member of Center United Methodist Church. He served in the US Army.
The family meeting place will be the home at 31 Old Airport Road, Concord.
He was a member of the choir and an active member of the church. He was a retired charter member of Allen VFD.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Allen VFD and Georgeville VFD.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard L. Blackwelder, Archie H. Blackwelder and sister, Carolyn B. Moose, granddaughter, Jennifer Blackwelder.
He is survived by his Wife, Sylvia "Sib" Blackwelder of Concord; Daughter-Beth B. Cruse of Concord, N.C.; Son-J. Byron Blackwelder of Concord, N.C.; Sister-Betty B. Love of Concord, N.C.; Brother-Ray M. Blackwelder of Concord, N.C.; Grandsons, Jamie Blackwelder, Trey Cruse, Trevor Cruse; Great-Grandchildren, Addison and Caleb Blackwelder; Numerous nieces and nephews.
