Vermilion Grove
"Quarterly Meeting passed off very quietly. Notwithstanding the busy season of the year, the attendance was good. Reverends A.D. Tomlinson and Catherine Allen of Parke County, Indiana were present. The services were interesting, especially on the Sabbath. However, one event cast a shadow of gloom over the entire services. On Friday about Noon, Isaac P. Lewis, breathed his last. Blood poisoning caused his death. The deceased was born in North Carolina, December 19, 1804, hence was over 80 years of age. For more than three-fourths of a century he had been a faithful member in the society of Friends. He leaves seven children and a large number of friends to mourn his loss".
Isaac was married twice. He married his first wife, Rachel Waldrop, on August 28, 1827 in Warren County, Ohio. With Rachel, Isaac's children were John, Thomas, Esther, Larkin, Caleb and Susanna. Rachel died in the early 1840s in Indiana, and Isaac married a widow named Rebecca Beverlin(maiden name Commmons) on May 11, 1846 in Wayne County, IN. She had three children with her first husband William, who died about 1842. Isaac and Rebecca's children were Nathan, Elmer, Narcissa, Almeda, Evaline, Perry, and Oliver.
