David William Streib, age 43, passed away March 19, 2007, at the Great Falls Benefis Hospital.
Dave was born April 13, 1963, in Helena. Dave was taken suddenly by a stage 5 brain aneurysm, while doing improvements at their cabin located at Canyon Ferry Lake.
Dave was raised and attended school in Boulder graduating from Jefferson County High School in 1981. He participated in extra curricular sports, excelling in track and field. After high school he attended Portland Community College and achieved certification as a licensed optician.
Dave owned and operated the Optical Department since Aug. 9, 1989. Dave married his soul mate, Esther, on Feb. 24, 1991, in Reno, Nev., and Dave's best friend, Stuart Myrhow stood in as best man. From this reunion their son, Tyler James, was born on Oct. 6, 1992.
Dave was a proper representation of an outdoorsman. Every weekend Dave, his son, Tyler and most of the time their longtime buddy, Curt York, would make their way out to either Fairfield or Townsend, not so much to kill, but to enjoy everything nature had to offer. He was a man who never had to make a kill to enjoy a hunt. To watch his two German wirehaired pointers do their job made his day more than ever killing a bird. In the summertime, his resort at Canyon Ferry left him anticipating the end of every work week.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; his son, Tyler; and his stepdaughters, Jacqueline Ferreira (fiance Luke Makela) of Minnesota, Esther Merritt (Bryan) of Helena; parents, James and Jackie Streib of Boulder; brothers, Rick Streib (Sandy), Steve Streib (Georgia), Dan Streib, Jamie Streib (Julia), all of Boulder, Kevin Streib of Oregon; sisters, Taffy Howell (Mike) of Wyoming, Ellen Harne of Missoula, Lisa Barker (Steve) of Butte; granddaughters, Amanda, Abigail and Alexzandra Merritt of Helena and numerous nieces, nephews and many in-laws located out of state.

At the request of the family, private family services are scheduled. Family will receive friends at a reception held at noon, Saturday, March 24, from the Jorgenson's Restaurant (downstairs), 1720 11th Ave., Helena. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials be sent to the Tyler Streib College Fund, in care of: Mountain West Bank, P.O. 6013, Helena, MT 59604.
