He was the son of Frances Marion Grace Bagley and Maggie Fallis Bagley.
He owned a farm, General Store and Cotton Gin in Warsaw Texas (Kaufman County). All three businesses were located next to the Edward David Causton farm. He married Bessie Burgess Coston, Edward's daughter. He was very intellegent and known as an inventor for cotton gin improvements as well as his ability to work complex math in his head. He was very popular around town because of his abilities as a story teller. Joe was blind (probably Glaucoma)the twilight years of his life.
