Helen R. Fangman, 72, of Seneca, KS, died at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, KS, on November 2, 1980. She had entered the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital on October 8, 1980, and was later transferred to Topeka for treatment of a heart ailment and other complications.

She was born May 27, 1908, on a farm south of St. Benedict, KS, the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth Sudbeck Fangman. She attended country school and St. Mary's School.

On August 9, 1927, she married Albert Engelken at St. Mary's Church. They made their home on the Engelken home place south of St. Benedict. In 1977, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Her memberships included St. Mary's Church and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church.

Survivors are her husband, Albert, of the home; sons, Quentin Engelken, Seneca, KS; Virgil Engelken, Seneca, KS; Stephen Engelken, Pasadena, TX; Rene Engelken, Prairie Village, KS; Linus Engelken, Tonganoxie, KS; Thomas Engelken, Topeka, KS; daughters, Georgina Glissman, Corning, KS; Constance Hermesch, Goff, KS; Irene Lawrence, Saginaw, MN; Rita Kastens, Topeka, KS; Joan Engelken, Topeka, KS; Lois Kuckelman, Axtell, KS; brother, Paul Fangman, Seneca, KS; sisters, Theresa Stallbaumer, Seneca, KS; Elizabeth Deters, Baileyville, KS; 52 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, John Engelken and Daniel Glissman; also by two infant grandsons and an infant granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Mary's Church, St. Benedict, KS, on November 4, 1980. Burial was in the church cemetery.
