KENESAW - Vincent L Erickson died March 19, 2001 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.
Services will be held March 23, 2001 at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings with the Reverend Matt Nieman officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery.
Vincent was born October 29, 1917 to Luther and Esther (Thorson) Erickson in Fillmore County. He went to school in Ong for eight years.
He served in the Army from August 23, 1945 to August 31, 1946 at Tec 5. He earned a Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Asia Occupation Medal.
He worked for Yellow Diamond Lines and after he retired he delivered Tribunes to outside area until he retired in 1990. He helped his son-in-law and grandson during harvest time for many years.
He moved to Good Samaritan Village in 1998. For the past three month he has resided at Haven Home in Kenesaw.
On April 7, 1941 he married Elsie Karnatz.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings and Masonic Mid West Lodge #317 in Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his wife on February 28, 1975; two sisters, Justine and Nadine and one brother, Kermit.
Survivors include his daughters Jan Plambeck of Kenesaw and Lois Wiens of Kearney; one son Mike Erickson of Cozad; one sister Arlyne Gunn of Superior; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be give to Haven Home Activities Fund of Kenesaw.
Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home of Kenesaw was in charge of arrangements.
