She was born March 19, 1928, in Pawnee Hospital in Pawnee City, NE, the daughter of Adolph M. and Edna L. Smith Stehlik. She grew up there and attended Pawnee County Rural School and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1946. After graduating she taught in the rural county schools.
On December 29, 1947, she married Alvin A. Kramer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beatrice, NE. He died August 18, 1990.
They purchased a farm south of Whiting, KS, where they farmed and raised turkeys. In April, 1950, they moved to a farm near Oneida, KS. In November, 1962, they purchased the Modern Motel in Seneca, KS, and operated it until they sold it in 1979. Phyllis then began work at the Nemaha County Training Center. She also did home care for the elderly until she retired in 1994.
Phyllis enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading, playing cards, and antiques. She was a lifetime member of the Nemaha County Historical Society, a member of the St. Ann's Altar Society, a chrter member of the Oneida Homemakers Unit, member of the Business & Professional Women's Club, a charter member of the Heritage Club and the Seneca Lioness Club.
Survivors are daughters, Linda Wallis, Topeka, KS; Gail Salyer, Salyersville, KY; sister, Katherine Wolfe, Lincoln, NE; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca, KS. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Baileyville, KS.
